Had a dinner at TigerLily a couple of months ago. Haven't been in for just over a year, but the place was still looking great and packed to the rafters during a busy Rugby-weekend Saturday night. Staff and service are still superb - service always going to be slow on a Saturday and this is forgiveable.
We had the seafood platters to share at the start which were flawless, fresh and delish. Good start. Sadly, the rest of the menu's pickings weren't such a hit, and this disappointed purely due to the meagre portion sizes.
I had the asparagus and Parma ham starter and then the monkfish with rice main course.
The asparagus was a bit gooey, Parma ham was fine but nothing to write home about. Literally just two sprigs and two slices of ham though .
Main course was fine - monkfish was clean and well cooked. The coconut rice was well flavoured, however the three small mouthfulls of fish sadly didn't equate to a main course for me. My fella had the chicken and his comment was ' I could fit this tiny thing in my eye socket' . An odd analogy, but the point was really the reference of size. It was little.
All of the Montpeliers restaurants are currently offering 2for1 meals at the moment - supposedly this doesn't run on a Saturday, however the whole meal made me think the Kitchen were still running on a similar 'budget' mentality.
Really, nothing wrong with the food at all - it's quite good, but I would definitely avoid paying full whack as you'll feel like you've been fleeced.

The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. It stands in Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh, opposite the Jenners department store on Princes Street and near to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station.
